The enzyme synthesizes a mixture of sesquiterpenoids from (2E,6E)-farnesyl diphosphate. As well as (+)-¦Á-santalene, (?)-¦Â-santalene and (?)-exo-¦Á-bergamotene are formed with traces of (+)-epi-¦Â-santalene.
